The Agent18 company spans back many generations of music device protection, starting with its founder, Wilhelm von Agent, maker of the first glass harp cover back in 1579. More than 300 years later, the family business was passed onto Vesputi Virginina-Agent, an Italian cousin and inventor of the first wooden phonograph cover (Il Protectoro del Fonopodo) back in 1888. He took the business with him to America, where his great grandson eventually created the aluminum record player cover in 1957. As technology flew forward, so did the Agent family's music protection... with the Rubber Jukebox Glove, the Cover-man for Walkmen, and the neon Ka-boom Box Plastic Dome. Now, 18 of the descendents of Wilhelm von Agent live and work at Agent18. Headquarters are located in the attic of the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles, Calif., where Agent18 creates breakthrough protection for music devices and other electronics accessories for the world.

Okay, the real truth is that Agent18 is just a bunch of nerdy engineers that spend a lot of time with their iPods, cameras, PSPs, and computers, and protecting those gadgets is important to them. All of Agent18 products are designed in sunny Southern California, or on a plane, or sometime when one of the Agent18 team members is out running in the park! Agent18’s goal is to design products that its employees would use for products that they love. They hope you will like the products as well. Welcome to Agent protection.

Okay but with Flaws
This case is the one I brought home with my new 160gb iPod over a couple years ago now and I have only just started looking for a new one. It has protected my iPod well enough through a couple drops and scratches, however it does have some flaws. The metal belt clip broke early on, the little plastic bits that are on the sides that clamp onto the iPod broke apart and my iPod fell off of my belt. I tried gluing it back together but the thought of my iPod falling off while riding my bike prevented my from using it again.

The other flaw is because it doesn't have any padding inside the case, over time the back of my iPod slowly got scratched up. It's no longer sleek as it was when new, it's very worn looking. I never take it out of the case except to dock so I'm certain it's the case that created all of the scratches. This may also be in part from the fact that the bottom is not covered by the case and dust, pocket lint, dirt and other little bits get into the case through the bottom so it's necessary to remove it regularly to clean the inside of the case.

The one redeeming feature is the kickstand. This is fantastic to use on flights, car trips or just to keep your iPod situated on the desk while working. I use it quite a bit while working at a desk because the bottom of the kickstand has rubber bits to keep it from sliding around and potentially falling off the desk. I work at a drafting table and if I put the iPod on it because of the slope it would slide off.

Good system for carrying, protecting and viewing the iPod
So you're trying to protect the iPod but add some functionality to it, too? This is a good system to protect the iPod with this two piece clamshell-type case.

It is easy to put on but the porthole for the earphones are not conducive for all headphone jacks (since it is limited by girth of the jack - some do not fit well or do not allow adequate contact for the headphones to work).

The clickwheel is not protected. The screen is protected but the plastic does get scratched over time. The hard metal clip is sturdy and less likely to come off your belt that other plastic clips.

The negative is that the clip must be removed to use the stand. The stand folds easily but is an extra thing to carry when traveling. However, it works well on an airplane dinner tray table. The stand is stable and has rubber footing to decrease the chance of sliding off the surface.

The case will protect against a few drops but will open 'apart' if the metallic clip is not in place. Removal of the iPod takes a coin to pry open at the 'hold' key port.

Pros
Good system for a stand and sturdy carry case
Screen protector will scratch over time
Works with the plastic shell in the Bose iPod Speaker

Cons
No protection for the clickwheel
Will open easily without the metal clip when dropped
Slightly difficult to pry open
Some headphones will not fit the jack since the 'port' is narrow.

VERDICT

This is a good case/system.

Best Case For your iPod
This case is GREAT; the iPod is completely encased in hard plastic, including the screen, which was my major concern. The only part exposed is the click wheel. The first time you put it on, it's EXTREMELY hard to take it off. You'll have to get a nickel or penny (or your fingernail if they're strong enough) and pry it apart...you'll want to do this a few times to make it a little easier to open because the iPod gets rather dusty being in the case. I was really surprised at the quality of the case, metal belt clip and the little kick stand. If you value your iPod and/or are a little clumsy (already dropped it twice onto concrete from waist level--no damage to either the iPod or the case), then get this case--it's definitely worth the price!

Beautiful!
Beautiful case and very strong and durable. My only problem with it is that the bottom is just a little bit open, which can let dust in. In other words, you'll still need to go in and clean your pod occasionally. So far, though, I haven't had a scratch on my pod at all. I cannot say enough as to the beauty of this case- if you want a stunning looking pod, this is the way to go.

Great Case
This is a great ipod case that keeps the ipod in very good condition. I've had it for over a year and the ipod looks almost brand new. The case has never come off even after a few accidental drops. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a case to keep there ipod in tip top shape for the long hall.
