  1. I bought my Fuze based on glowing reviews but found reality to be quite different. Got it, loaded a few test songs and tried it out for about five minutes. Next time I tried to use it it would not play any of the songs that had worked before. Then it wouldn’t stay powered on. Went through the reset process and subsequent attempts to put music on it failed. Gave up on it for a couple of weeks and now when I try to use it it won’t power on telling me the “FAT is corrupted …” I can’t reset it or get it to mount on the computer. Looked for a solution but Sandisk seems to ignore this problem. After hours of searching the Web in general I found an arcane series of actions that allowed me to get the thing reformatted and, theoretically restored to its defaults.

Loaded a handful of new music files on the Fuze and it only recognized half. Nothing wrong with the files – work fine on my iPod et cetera. Next day I tried to turn the Fuze on and now it freezes at the startup screen and will not reset no matter what ridiculous series of switches and buttons I push up or hold down at the same time. I have never hated anything so much in my life as this POS is insultingly poor quality.

Tossed it in the can and chalked it up to experience. Zero stars should be an option as a single star is far too generous a rating.

    Worst purchase ever.

  2. This might be a good value for the price but I couldn’t stand the pre-loaded songs on itand I had trouble getting to the delete menu to delete them. I’m a jazz fan and the songs were uncool. I found the controls to feel cheaper than the competitor’s. I’m not using it anymore, bought a new MP3 player.

  3. The Unit Is A Good Unit As Far As What I Have Used It For….Music, Voice Recorder > Up To 1 Hour And 57 Minutes Of Recording Time. The Recording Is Clear And Loud, There Is Only One Problem However, When You Listen To The Recording Of Your Voice There Is A Ticking Sound As You’re Listening To It Back. It Doesn’t Do That If You Record From The “Built In” Radio, Only From Other Sources, Like Your Voice. You Can Even Use The MP3 Player As A Flashlight If Your Lights Are Out As I Did Last Night. My Lights Were Off And Without Me Thinking About It, When I Was Walking Around With The MP3 Player I Was Able To See Where I Was Going Without Putting The Lights On. When You Get The Sansa Fuze You Will Need To Get The Updated Firmware Version Because The Battery Did Not Last For The 24 Hours Straight Before My Next Full Charge Like It Says It Does Until You Download The Updated Firmware, Also Make Sure You Set The BackLight And The PowerSavor Accordinally So The Battery Will Last “At Least” The Full 24 Hours, I Did A Battery Test After The Updated Firmware Was Installed And The Battery Did Actually Last For 29 Hours Before I Needed To Charge The Battery Again. That’s More Than The 24 Hours That Is Advertised But You Need To Set It To Where The Battery Power Is Saved The Most On BackLight And PowerSavor For It To Be That Way. I Will Tell You Also That The Reason That I Did A Test On The Battery In The First Place Is Because Even Without Using It, The Power Of The Battery Was Wearing Down As If I Was Using It When I Wasn’t, So You Need To Get The Updated Firmware So That Doesn’t Happen. The Firmware Corrects The Battery Problem As Far As I Can See, It’s Fine Now, But The Ticking In The Recording When I Play It Back Is Not Acceptable. I Bought This For The Music But Everything Has To Work Properly For Me To Be Satisfied.

  4. i BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT FOR MY TEEN SON TO USE ON A LONG TRIP. MISTAKE, LIFE OF THE BATTERY IS LESS THAN 3 HOURS, FREEZES A LOT AND VERY COMPLICATED TO GET IT TO WORK AGAIN, MY SON WAS VERY UPSET .

NOT WORTH – IS BETTER TO SPEND MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE ON A MORE RELIABLE PRODUCT.

  5. It took several attempts with the assistance of Sansa’s support line in the Phillippines to understand how to get the Sansa Fuze operational. Thereafter, I had problems formatting the internal memory. The young lady in the Phillipines talked me through that process.

Unfortunately,The 8MB external memory chip refused to format using all of the techniques suggested by Sansa’s representative.

Thereafter, I was transferred to some alleged technical specialists in India. They were worse than useless and requested me to repeat basic information to them at least a half dozen times. It became obvious that they were following a script protocal and were unable to deviate from the information they were told to provide.

Eventually, I was told to take the chip to Wal-Mart and see if they could determine why it refused to format. They couldn’t help either.

I called the help line in India and was told to return the chip to North Carolina for exchange. Again I had to repeat basic information about a half dozen times.

Ultimately, they provided a UPS label to return the chip.

The chip having been returned, I’m waiting for a replacement chip.
